101 Spanish Verb Conjugation Task Cards to practice Hablar, Comer and Vivir in the Present Tense (Tiempo Presente – Modo indicativo)
These Spanish task cards are to help students learn the conjugation of regular verbs ending in -AR, -ER and -IR buy focusing on the classic three verbs: Hablar, Comer and Vivir. This refers to their conjugation in the present tense (presente de indicativo).
There are 101 simple sentences with a blank space in them.
Below each sentence are three options (of a conjugated verb) that students can choose from to fill that blank space based on the subject.
To the right of these answer options is a cartoon based on the sentence that appears on the task card. These cartoons may help with understanding of some of the vocabulary that appears in the sentences.
There are three task cards per page, each one surrounded by cutting lines.
As a bonus, we have included a conjugation chart and some worksheets …
BONUS CONJUGATION CHARTS: A chart with the subject pronouns (yo, tú, él/ella, usted, nosotros/as, vosotros/as, ellos/ellas, ustedes) on the left.
Next to each subject pronoun is the conjugation of the regular verbs HABLAR, COMER and VIVIR. The stem of each verb is in black and the conjugation change is in red, making it easier for students to see the changes for each pronoun.
There is a large version of this conjugation chart (one on a page) and a smaller version with two of the same charts per page surrounded by cutting lines.
BONUS WORKSHEETS: All 101 exercises from the flash cards appear together over three worksheets. Students need to fill The blank space in each sentence with the correct conjugation of either Hablar, Comer or Vivir.
There are two versions, one with an infinitive at the end of the sentence in italics. For example:
- Yo _____ español. (Hablar)
And another version WITHOUT the infinitive at the end. Note that with this version there could sometimes be two or more possible correct answers. For example with this sentence:
- Yo ___ solo. (All three verbs could be used – what is important is the correct conjugation)
NOTE: Even though the personal pronouns vosotros / vosotras and their conjugations appear in the chart, we do not use this form in any of the exercises.
Answer sheets have been included for teachers but students can also use them to check their own work.
IMPORTANT: All of these task cards and worksheets are 100% in Spanish making it ideal for language immersion classrooms.
